How Does a Boiling Water Tap Work?
- A compact insulated boiler unit sits under your sink, connected to your cold mains supply and a standard 13-amp socket, heating filtered water to up to 98°C and keeping it ready to dispense instantly.
- An advanced filtration system removes chlorine, heavy metals, limescale and other impurities from your water supply, improving the taste of your water and protecting the internal components from scale damage.
- Filters should be replaced every six months to maintain performance and warranty coverage.
- Dispensing boiling water is simple and safe, with user-friendly controls and a spring-loaded child safety lock ensuring the boiling function can only be activated deliberately.

Are boiling water taps safe?
Yes. Every Quel Tap features a spring-loaded child-safety mechanism that requires a deliberate press-and-turn action before near-boiling water is dispensed. Accidental activation is not possible. The insulated spout also ensures the outside of the tap stays safe to touch during use.
What is the difference between a 4-in-1 and a 5-in-1 boiling water tap?
A 4-in-1 boiling water tap gives you boiling filtered water, cold filtered water, standard hot and standard cold from a single unit, replacing both your kettle and your filter jug in one elegant upgrade. A 5-in-1 tap adds chilled sparkling filtered water to that lineup, bringing the full premium water experience to your kitchen without a separate appliance in sight.

How does the filter subscription work?
Every Quel Tap includes a built-in filtration system that removes limescale, chlorine and impurities for consistently clean, great-tasting water. Filter cartridges need replacing approximately every six months. Our filter subscription service sends a replacement cartridge to your door automatically, so you never have to think about it.
